I grew up on a farm, surrounded by nature. It is the place where I always feel most at home. Feeling the wind in your hair, the quiet sensation of morning dew beneath bare feet, the slow life, nobody in a hurry. It is this peacefulness that I try to capture in every photograph I make. And I also try to evoke that same sense of calm in everyone who steps in front of my lens.
I started World of Sisu because I wanted to make photographs that feel like you. Not the posed version, but the real one: the laugh just after, the quiet look when you forget for a moment that you are on camera, the hand on a growing belly when you’re just having a moment for yourself. Those moments in between, where you are just being you, are exactly what I am looking for.
Sisu has no direct translation. It is the strength you find when things get hard, and the calm that stays after.
I see it in the people I photograph. In a mother carrying new life, in two people choosing each other, in a family that is loud and messy and full of love, in someone brave enough to simply be seen.
We start with a walk and a chat. No rush, no countdown. The best photographs happen once everyone has forgotten about the camera.
I make sure you feel comfortable, but I never ask you to be someone else. Real light, real places, and real moments, edited with a soft and timeless touch.

When I am not photographing, you will probably find me on a long beach walk, with a cup of coffee that has gone cold, or planning the next trip up north. I am based in the Netherlands and happy to travel for your story. Wherever you feel most like yourself, that is where we go.
